Scandalesque Monthly

Scandalesque is a burlesque and cabaret show that evokes a vaudevillian aesthetic with outlandish variety acts and provocative singing and dancing.

"What is Burlesque?" Webster's dictionary defines it as "a theatrical entertainment of broad and earthy humor; consists of comic skits and short turns (and sometimes striptease)."

MARCH EVENT

SCANDALESQUE CENTER STAGE WITH GUEST HOST LAURA DURANT!

March forward with Scandalesque, Sonorous, Kirby Romine & Satan's Angel

The Valley's Premier Burlesque Sensation, Scandalesque under the wing of local event coordinator, Midnite Movie Mamacita continue their once monthly stage show at the Paper Heart on Saturday March 3rd. Doors open at 8pm and the show will begin at 9pm. Admission for this show is $15 and to guarantee a seat arriving early is recommended. Tickets can be purchased in advance at
http://www.brownpapertickets.com

This month the show will be hosted by local favorite Laura Durant. Durant will appear as Chippy Maine and use her quick wit and charms to keep the audience in stitches. Also appearing, Sonorous will accompany Scandalesque in a collaboration of live music and dance. Magician Kirby Romine and Burlesque legend Satan's Angel will also be on stage with their classic acts that keep the crowds coming back. Attendees will also be able to dine on desert and sumptuous delights from Counter Culture Café who have opened up their new location inside the Paper Heart.

Scandalesque emerged onto the Valley's growing Burlesque scene two years ago and gathered a strong following due to their catchy Cabaret style of song and dance. Directed by Pyra Sutra and Fontayne, these ladies worked long and hard to form a troupe of talented singers, dancers and acrobats that have all been performing since they were children. They credit their appeal to the diverse talents of the group. Three classically trained dancers and an acrobat combine to present a unique and entertaining show.

Scandalesque combines Burlesque and Cabaret traditions with a Vaudevillian aesthetic. Their shows consist of Pyrotechnic delights to trapeze acrobatics. But the heart and soul of Scandalesque is the tantalizing Burlesque numbers where the ladies sing and dance their signature pieces. Clad in corsets, waist cincher's and sometimes just a G-string and pasties the ladies definitely get the crowds attention. However some of their biggest fans are those mature folks who remember Burlesque when it was more prevalent. "My grandparents love the show, they come to every performance and are huge supporters of Scandalesque" says co-director Pyra Sutra.

Scandalesque can be seen monthly on every first Saturday of the month at the Paper Heart Arts Venue. They will also be appearing at the Feast of Fools Fantasy Masquerade Ball on March 24th at the Paper Heart. The ladies will dust off their wings to present the crowd favorite "Spring Fever", with their representation of Mother Nature and her naughty butterflies!
